What is resin impregnation and why is it used?
There are many resins used for insulating copper in electric motors. These resins are applied and cured at the specific temperatures called out by each resins data sheet. Resin impregnation is the process of application and curing, the process could be a dip and bake method, trickle method, or a vacuum pressure impregnation method (VPI).
Resin impregnation is used to insulate the copper. It is used to coat the wire to prevent short circuits, prevent moisture and contaminants from getting into the windings, improve heat transfer, and provide mechanical strength.
Resin impregnation offered by AWE Newtech removes air from the slot and between the copper for a fully insulated motor.
